I have a 2000 accord manual transmission. Hmmm... how can I explain this? Well, the problem is when I start my car up it runs at high(not to high, about medium) rpms while idling. Then I just keep it running till the car warms up and then it slowly goes down. Is there anything I can do for this? Clean out the engine or something? thanks guys.

 

How high does it go?

 

Well it depends on the weather. In the winter, it goes no higher then 3000. When its alittle warmer maybe around 2000. When this happens(in all temp.), the nob goes up and then in a couple seconds goes down to about 1500, and thats when it takes a couple minutes to like warm up and come down to below 1000(normal). alittle confusing, hope u understood that.

 

also depends in what oil you are using. I use honda oil which is thin for the winter and n the summer I use some mobil1 thicker oil.

what do you mean? when u start the car for the first time in the morning the rmp is high then slowly go down as it warm up? that's just how it is, it start out that high(rmp) so the car will warm up faster; there nothing wrong with it. it's not like you can't drive it when you start it even at that high rmp, but it best to let it warm up before you drive.

 

Thats what I thought too until looked at some other cars that warmed up alot quicker. I really do believe its taking longer then it should. Could it be the choke?

Im not going to flame you.......First off its normal...Secondly choke is for a carbuerator, you have a 2000....they stopped using carbs in the late 80's

 

Didn't your other cars do the same thing?
