Hey guys just purchased a 95 Accord and the Engine light comes on every once and a while, I have a chiltons and I found the connector and used a jump wire to check the code. Found out it was the EGR valve, how hard is it to clean out??? I usually do all my auto work myself but I always get info on things I have never done before. My local honda shop said $300!!! just for the valve, heck with that. Thanks

 

The fifth generation Accords have a recall for emissions problems. Have your Honda dealer, who should have told you this, to check, using the car's serial number, to see if your car has been through this recall service. If the car has under 150,000 miles, you are due the free emissions work, plugs, wires, distributor and an oil change, all free. Also, Honda Corporation will refund you any money you paid for emissions work, as long as you have the invoices. I received almost $600 back! I had to mail copies of my invoices in to a special address you can get from your dealer, but it was well worth it.
