Do you have the dashboard cruise control button pushed in and the cruise control button on the steering wheel pushed and are you going at least 45mph? Sometimes the steering wheel button needs to be held down for a few seconds. Did it used to work or has it never worked?

If you are a stick car look under the dash at the clutch pedal arm and make sure that the arm is pushing the switch in when you let the clutch out.
