Default Dealership Oil Changes

I had my oil changed at the dealership today (98 i4 accord) and I noticed that my receipt stated that only 4qts of oil was used (or that I was charged for 4 only). Normally, when I change my oil, I use 4.5qts. I'll check the dipstick again once I get a chance.

Anybody have similar experiences at the dealership? Do they only use 4qts and not 4.5qts?

Did you ask them? It's probably just a bookkeeping thing.

well, I think I can asnwer that for you since I work at a dealership. normally we'd say 4 qt if we use less than 4.5 qts. So, basically any amount of under x.5 then it is billed out as x. Otherwise if the amount of oil being used is over x.5, we bill it out as the next number. In your case, the dealership probably used less than 4.5 quarts.
