Default scratching when i accelerate

I have a 01 accord ex v6 coupe and every time i step on the gas, an audible scratching, whirring noise comes from the engine compartment. I have fog lights and a decent system with 2 amps and a couple subs, think it is the alternator? Im not sure so any help is appreciated, thank you.

you sure it's from the engine and not the wheels?

is it a metallic grinding noise?

How many miles are on your car and when was the last time you replaced your spark plugs and wires? I had a very similiar sound happen to me not long ago but only when I WOT'd it. It turned out to be my spark plugs and wires. I tested the wires with an ohmmeter and found one of the plug wires to have very high resistance. I had 80,000 miles at the time and had never replaced the plugs or wires before. The plugs were all carboned up so I know that factored in as well.

Alternator for sure. They sound like a POS supercharger when they go bad. I have a brand new one I can sell you, I can ship it right away. Let me know what you can buy one for at an auto parts store new and I'll sell it to you cheaper.

FYI you probably have about 2-3k miles left before it'll leave you stranded.

I'm pretty sure its not the wheels or brakes, ive got relatively new cooper's and brembo pads. Ive got 78k on the car and i do think its the alternator, since its never been changed and im running quite a bit of watts thru it.

I told you, find out what you can buy an alternator for and I'll sell it to you for cheaper than that They go for like $150 new, so just shoot me an offer. It's sitring in my trunk ready to go and has a lifetime warranty.
