search!!! this question has been asked at least 100 times

1. Have the key in the ignition just in the off position.
2. Push and hold the trip reset button
3. Turn the key to the ON position and keep holding the button for about 20 secs and the light should turn off
4. Let go of the button

You clearly haven't been here for very long if you've only seen it 5 times  Why people don't read their owner's manual is beyond me.

you grab a hammer and smash it until it's gone.
or you put black tape in front of it so you can't see it anymore...ever.
