Default How to prove legality of engine?

My friend's 92 lude got trashed and he's giving me the H22 in it. He bought it from a fellow marine preswapped and got the paperwork. He later lost it. We know the engine is legal but how do I go about proving it? What's the process? TIA.

I dont understand by legality...you mean if its been stolen? You can tell is an H22 by the stamp on the block...If it was stolen it was stolen prolly no way to tell unless the car was stolen as well.

Yes, I mean to prove whether or not the engine is stolen, specially since I might be thinking about selling it I would like to give the buyer paperwork to relieve any possible hassles.

have your friend provide you with a copy of his title with the VIN number on it.
Doesnt the engine have the same VIN as the car?

No, I already stated that it has a swapped engine and my friend lost the paperwork. The Vin's are not the same.

The VIN from the Engine should have the same VIN number as the car it was previously in..thats how you find out if it was stolen or not.
