I too have a '91 EX that did exactly what you said yours does!! But the funny thing is, it stopped doing that about 2 months ago. I bought the car about a year ago. It was fine for a while. Then when it started getting into summer, that's when the check engine light started coming on. It lasted during the winter, but for strange reason, it hasn't come on for a while now.
I have a wierd feeling that when it begins to get warm again, it'll start happening again.

I took it to a shop, and the mech. told me he cleared the codes in the ECU. Was fine for a while(doorlocks started working again!?), but soon it was back to square one. About 3 weeks ago, the doorlocks was working one night, then in the morning, it wasn't.

It's something wierd that I just don't understand. Also, when the check engine light comes on, the idle speed would drop. But it never once cut off on me. GO HONDA!!!

(1) If codes other than the above are indicated, repeat self-diagnosis. If code (s) reappear, substitute a known good ECU and recheck codes. If code (s) clear, replace ECU.

I don't know what codes 8 & 47 indicate, but it may be that your ECU needs to be replaced. boy you've got your work cut out for you. hope this helps
