Default 99 Accord LX - Engine Replacement

I'm replacing my 180k engine with a 28k junkyard motor. VTEC w/o ULEV, wiring harness intact paired with a 5spd tranny.

1. Any experience in this swap? Tips, etc.???

2. While I'm in there, anything else I should be looking to replace.

Thanks!

Cylinder #2 failure. No compression and no combustion. Burned oil for 1 year until it finally died last week. I've been planning on this for months. My assumption is either bad rings or dead piston.

If you don't have one, look at getting a www.helminc.com book for your Honda, it should detail all the tid bits you'll need.

Wow, how did that happen? 180k seems really short for an F23

I'm curious also, the F-series engines are generally good for a good 250-300,000 miles before they get tired...

I recently had to replace my f23, pretty much the same thing but it was cylinder #1 that went bad. The junkyard I got my engine from said to validate the warranty I had to get a new timing belt, water pump, gaskets, seals, thermostat, new plugs, wires. the new engine runs so much better than the my old engine even before the piston rings went on cyl#1. I got a 19K engine for $500, definatly worth the money.

I got the car in 2002 with 38k. At around 45k I noticed that the dipstick would pop up every once in a while. BLOWBY! Well, I used 10w30 w/ frequent oil changes. 95% highway miles later I noticed very high oil consumption.

I'm going to take apart the engine after I swap it. I'll let ya'll know what's up.

Holy shit, the first owner must have run the piss out of it and never changed the oil.

Let me know if you need any diagrams or info to help you out, I have sitewide access to alldata through work.

Yeah. It was a rental car. I got it real cheap. I mean, 180k on original clutch with no slipage. Not other major issues.

The only problem I think I'll have is with the wiring harness and the frozen fuel line. PB BLASTER!!! Thanks for the help.
