Default 5th Gear Grind . . . Driving Me CRAZY!!!

Well dudes, my car was grinding 5th so i went to the local honda dealership and bout 3 quarts of Honda MTF. The salesman told me it should take 3 quarts but after i got home and read a manual it said that the tranny usually takes 1.8 quarts and should not be overfilled. I filled it as instructed in the manual. It basically said to finger the tranny until you feel that the fluid level is correct. Thats what i did but the frikkin car is still grinding like THe Clipse and Pharrell.

I did a couple searches here and didnt find anything too usefull . . . maybe i didnt search enuff . .. but ...

i just want to kno if going by wut the honda man told me is wut i should do and add more or maybe try something different. ive hear of redline and syncromesh, but i heard Honda MTF was the best. ANybody kno if i have a bigger problem ahead of me like clutch or actually getting my syncros in the tranny fixed. Im planning on gettin rid of the car, i mite just leave it for the next man, its fucked up but sometimes u just gotta do it.

any suggestions i mean ANY. woiuld be helpful.

'97 accord LX by the way.

With 119K on my 97 EX 5speed, I changed the MTF with factory Honda manual tranny fluid. After a few days, I noticed more and more, I was getting a 1st-2nd gear grind. I really wouldn't call it a grind, but more like an "unsmooth" engagement.

I did some research. Bought this stuff a day later: http://www.pennzoil.com/products/gear_oil/syncro_fluid.html

Get 3 bottle's. Drain and fill. The tranny will shift better then the day the car was new. I swear it's a HUGE difference in shift quality and engagement. Do your own research if you don't belive me. The Pennzoil stuff is just rebaged GM Syncromesh fluid. Same exact ingredients, just 6 bucks less a quart. Your transmission capacity is 2.2L quarts I THINK. Good luck!

im goin to see because the tranny was pretty much full up to the fill plug hole. so im also guessin that anymore would just overflow before i could plug it back up.

im gonna go to the auto part store and cop some syncromesh and hopefully it will help me out... ill keep u guys posted.

THe 5th gear grind has happened maybe three times to me as well. Only at higher RPM's though, like past 4000 or so.
