would disassembling the whole motor be a better option than cranking it at all?

that way, you can let the whole engine air dry rather than possibly try and compress water.

it's already gone, the water has probably gotten into everything, something will bust as soon as he does start it. he's going to need a new engine.

where are the pics of the oil puddle. they were posted int eh basement a few months ago, i;m not sure who it was, but the story was the car ran for a while and then after about 2 weeks or somthing flipped a shit and blew.

at this point theres really nothing to loose trying to start it because at worst you will still need a engine.

It's a coin flip as to whether it works or not. Make sure you got all the water out. If it's too late the rods will probably be bent, among other things. Changing oil would be a good idea if it's good to go.

I'm curious...on the CAI for an '04, how close is the cone filter to the plastic shield at the bottom?

usally it's pretty close I have a CAI in my 94 it's close to the bottom almost touching it but I have the optional bypass valve installed to prevent the same thing from happening.

I'm not trying to diss you or be mean, but why would you put a CAI on a (just about) brand new car without a bypass filter? I've never understood this. The SRI works almost as well for the I4 and you never have to worry about puddles.

Only if you drive into a lake your SRI will suck in the water...lol.

I never understood it either. The risk is greater than the reward.

:werd: I recently had to get a new engine, not from sucking in air, but from fried rings. I picked up an F23 with 19K on if for $500. I tend to think it will cost you a bit more for a K24. I hope you get your engine to crank over. if not it may be time to think about throwing in a TSX K24.
