Default 105k service ??

What should I have done for my 105k service? I know I need the Timing belt, AC belt and Alternator belt. Do I really need to replace the water pump too? I dident see Honda recomending that, just the dealers. If I do the water pump, then the coolent will need to be changed too. About how much should a Honda dealer charge for this service. I am in SE michigan and have a 02 Accord EX.

P.S. The belts still look like new.

-timing belt
-water pump
-power steering belt
-compressor belt.

timing belt NEEDS to be changed at 105k, even if it looks new. There's no official replacement time for the water pump. Since everything is exposed while removing the timing belt... it makes sense to replace the water pump as well since 80 percent of the labor is already done.

I thought that Age was harder on belts than miles. Honda says my coolant and tranny fluid are good for 120k.

Honda also says to change your oil every 10,000 miles. I had a stubborn friend who stuck to that ... his Civic now sits dead on his driveway at 80K with a bad engine.

Honda also says to check the oil every other time you get gas. Did he do that? What exactly happened to it?

Don't bother with the belts until they look cracked/dry or start squeaking. But you might as well buy them since eventually they'll have to be replaced.

Um no. Read the owner's manual.

This guy is a total book smarts only type of person. If it's in a book, it HAS TO BE ... 10,000 miles = oil change. I'm sure he didn't check the oil at the gas station though. I think he ran the thinner summer blends straight through January.

The car's engine won't turn over. Oil on the plugs + a bad cylinder.

I wouldn't mind doing 10k intervals with full synthetic on a broken in engine with less than 100k miles. But you've gotta check your oil frequently. He probably drove it like a granny during the first 1000 miles, never broke in the seals and piston rings properly, and started burning oil very soon.

Thinner oils are a no no in the winter up north...Honda says 5W-20 now all year around but that's bullshit, they just say it for emissions and MPG reasons. The original service manual states that 5W-20 should not be used in temperatures below 20F.
