Default trunk leak

i have a 91 accord and everytime it rains and i look in the trunk and where the spare tire goes there is like a puddle of water. not a whole like a couple inches but it covers the bottom. and when i open the trunk it seems as if there is condensation on the top of the inside of the trunk that drips. this only happens when it rains. wht procedures can i take into finding and fixing the problem.

ha, this happened to my 91 honda accord about 8 years ago. I actually took it to our mechanic (i know it has nothing to do with the engine but he does that type of work as well). They put someone in the trunk and closed it and took a garden hose and made fake rain haha. The guy in the trunk with a flashlight figured out where the leak was and they sealed it. I think if I can remember that the leak was around the rear windshield and theweather striping on the trunk itself.

i was going to suggest the same thing. Get in the trunk and have someone spray the trunk in every direction to find the leak.. Most likely, the rubber seal may be worn out and it need replacing.

this seems to be a common problem with hondas... but what I dont get is how there is the drain channel around the trunk and the seal of the lid is actually raised up... and it still leaks...?

Default Body seam filler might be cracked...

I just bought a 98 Accord that I don't know the background on and am slowly discovering things about. The trunk on it leaks also, but I have found cracks in the body seam filler on the driver side of the trunk. It is obvious to me now (after buying it of course) that it has been hit and repaired in the back. I don't know if this contributed to the small cracks or not. I am having the rear bumper cover repainted ($350) and asked the body man if he can apply new filler and paint it to match the car. He said he could for about another $30. Hopefully that will fix it. If you don't mind the looks, you could just apply some clear silicone to it yourself if you find cracks. Just grab the trunk seal and lift it, it should come right off, and look for cracks under it. Hope this helps.

Very common problem for the 90-93 Accords is the taillight gaskets
going bad.

it's more than the tailights though, i took both my tailight assemblys apart on my '90 accord b/c i could acutally watch the water drip through them. i sealed them on both sides of the gasket with rtv mega black sylicone and it sealed them both but i still have it coming in somewhere else that seems undetectable. my brother-n-lwas '90 on the other hand had the same leak so we did the same hting to fix that but when we painted his car we took the trim off the back windsiheld and found thats where another leak was...fixed it and it still has yet another leak somewhere else. whats up with that?!?!?
