Default 1990 EX missfire?

Gotta 1990 EX with 180K. 5spd. Nice car for my son. he loves it. Yesterday he was driving to work and " all of a sudden the engine started acting funny" so being the mindful kid, he drive it home, and snagged my wifes Jeep.

So I start looking into it and the engine starts and runs but runs rough, sort of like it is missing a cylinder. I added 2 qts oil; I cleaned the plugs, distibutor, changed the plug wires and checked for PCV being clogged. No affect.

Any suggestions on the next try?

Valve Adjustment, Replace your fuel filter, fuel injector cleaner.

What kind of Spark plugs did you replace it with ? Make sure your using the OEM sparks plugs which are NGK.

I'll try the fuel injector cleaner and fuel filter. I learned that NGK is the only way to go on spark plugs. thanks for the advise

I would test the igniter and then the coil also. These are common problems on Honda's.

Did you do a compression check? That would be the first thing I would check to make sure you don't have a dead hole. Then from there I would move on to fuel related problems or ignition problems.
