Lockup control Solenoid question
Hi guys, I have a question to ask. I need to change my lockup control solenoid ( A,B ) on my 02 accord 4cyl.
Since the solenoid sits ontop of the tranny housing would it appear that I have to drain the tranny fluid before I change this part?
I have a few bottles of honda tranny fluid so it wouldnt really matter if i do. Just that I prefer not to get under the car in this freezing whether we're having.

Thanks.
Thanks.
When shifting to 2nd from 1st I feel the torque convertor is locking up all the way. The rest of the gears are fine. It doesnt slip at all. It doesnt feel like its a tranny related problem where the tranny has to get replaced. I took it to pep boyz and r&s strauss ( local car places ) and they got the same error codes and advised me that I should get that solenoid replaced.
I'd rather spend 150 bucks and pray this solves my issue vs. replacing the tranny.
I hope this helps.
Are you having an problem also?
First of all how many miles do you have on your car? You can try the solenoid, but I do agree with honda guy, It is pretty much a 50/50 chance. What I would do is call American Honda Customer service for assistance. They might help with the repairs. You have nothing to lose.

well it started acting up at like 80-85k miles.
I have 98k now. I've called Honda care and basically they wont honor a warranty. Even though I purchased the extended warranty.
If the solenoid doesnt fix it then ill contact honda care again and bitch some more.
The 02 models are excluded from the notoroius tranny problems.
well then my tranny must be in that 1% because I replaced it today and it seems to have solved my problem. Shifting is alot more smoother.
Also, when i removed the old solenoid, the filters seemed to be all gunked up.

As soon as the filter clogs again it will have problems.

say it does happen again. If i take it to honda would they make me pay the full amount to fix? I currently have 98k miles on an 02 accord sedan.
