Default Help with a 92 Accord

I've got a problem with my 92 Accord.
I was at the stop light, then as it turned green, i accelerated like usual but the car didnt respond. It felt like I was in neutral.
After about 30 seconds, It budged. I pulled over to the side for awhile, then tried again.. I put it on D, the car was going backwards, what the? I also tried 2nd, same thing. I then turned off the car, tried turning it back on-- NOTHING, DEAD.
I hear a whizzling sound, like somethings spinning, but it doesn't turn on. What could it be?

Oh yeah, I had to tow it home.

Any help would be appreciated

Just incase info,

92 Accord LX, about 200,000+ miles.
Owned it since about 145,000 miles. Only thing I've had to replace was the distributor, so that's probably not the fault.

Thanks

you guys aren't reading his post.

I have never heard of that problem before...i would say either transmission problem, or a computer problem

Well
I also thought it was the timing belt,
I checked it out.. All looks fine, then I thought it'd be the starter
for some reason. Got a new one, same problem,
Now Im probably thinking its the transmission

since the gears got screwed up before it died

any input appreciated

thanks

Okay, say its the transmission..
Wouldn't the car still start up, just not shift?

The noise I was talking about is coming from the starter---
It just spins. The flywheel seems fine also

This sucks

This isn't answering your problem, but I have a personal policy I'll share with you.

If your car breaks and leaves you stranded ONCE (ignoring running out of gas or having a flat), dump the mofo.

Buuuuut, that's just me. :P

If the money is there, you could think about getting a used engine/tranny.

An F22a1 w/ tranny would prolly set you back a grand and you'd be good to go for another week to five years, depending on your luck.

If you don't like tinkering with your car, then you've just inherited a huge headache.

BTW, My '91 accord also died, but it was the entire head that went. 2 valves simultaneously broke at the neck, then proceeded to get the mung crunched out of them by Mr. Piston 2 and Mr. Piston 4.

I'm going h22a1.

Good luck, whatever you do.

Removed the transmission,
Looks like the flex plate became unwelded,
so there's no way it was going to turn the engine.

Hopefully that's all thats wrong with it and it'll give me
another 200,000 miles
