Default '90 ex starting roughness

everytime i crank up my accord ex cold it starts real rough and bucks. anyone know any possible causes for this. what is that starting air valve at the drivers end of the intake plenum? any info appreciated. thanks

Is there quite a bit of blue smoke upon startup when its running rough, and if so does it end when the engine smooths out? If that's the case then pull your #2 spark plug and see if the spark plug tube is filled with oil. There is an oil passage less than .5" from the #2 plug tube. If it is filled with oil, you'll need to replace your spark plug tube seals. Alternately, if #2 is dry then its your valve guides that are shot.

ya but where do you buy a starting air valve?? no one sells them? not really interested in going to honda for it. i just put a valve cover gasket set on it when i adjusted the valves about a year ago and they're dry b/c i checke dthem not too long ago.
