Default SRS 15-3 code

I am new to this board so please excuse any inadvertent etiquette issues. Have a couple of questions regarding SRS/OPDS code 15-3. My 2001 Accord V6 SRS light comes up with intermittent 15-3 code. Reset and light goes away and comes back after a few days.
Question 1 – As this is an OPDS type problem, Does SRS light mean that my whole SRS unit is deactivated? Or just the side bag?
Question 2 – What would happen if OPDS unit is disconnected. It seems like its only function is to disable the side bag for passenger safety when they are not positioned correctly.
Question 3 – and the most important – Has Honda done anything to fix this wide spread problem. Has anyone had theirs replaced outside warranty by Honda free of charge?
Thanks in advance

it's a problem with the OPDS in the seat back and whole SRS system is inop. when the light is on but the good news is honda extended the warranty to 10years or 150k on the 14 of this month.

Can someone else validate?

Is the whole SRS system is inoperative when error is 15-3?

anytime the SRS light stays on the whole system in inop. if the side airbag light is on then only the side ones are inop.

I should post on “Dealer is an Idiot…” thread. I was told by the “Service Advisor” that only passenger side airbags are disabled if the code is related to OPDS (15-3). When they told me that, I did smell “Fish”, since I know that the side airbags have their own amber light when they are disabled. But they are supposed to have a more technical (Honda Specific) knowledge than I do. Go Figure!!!

sweet!! years later at a ford dealer this info was super helpful. I got an order to inspect and diag a '00 accord 4 dr v6 auto and had the 15-3 srs light code. Google pointed me here and I ended up ordering the sensor for $21.85, took a few days to get and fixed my problem.
