Default Heated Seats ...Interesting Observation!!

hey yall,

I got a 05 ExL sedan and for the first time, let my friend drive it. For the first time, I sat on the passenger side. To my surprise, I found that the heated seats in the Accord 05 (and maybe all 7th gen accords) have different heating patterns when it comes to the driver and the passenger seat....

i hope im right...so first can some of yall actually verify this:

The driver side has two "major" outlets in the seat: one on the seat (to warm up ur @$$ ) and the other on the backrest (around the middle back area) HOWEVER the passenger side has just one outlet, the one on the seat.....

I was really surprised that honda would do this....but then again..it maybe just my car....in any case...is there any way to fix this? or should I just take it to the nearest dealer and bitch him out...? what do yall say?

sammyg, there is nothing wrong with your seat heating system, nor is there a way to "fix" it. Your car has an OPDS (Occupant Position Detection System) unit in the passenger side seat back , and the sensor is located in the seat back padding. So far, Honda has not found a way to have the OPDS sensor coexist with a heating element, so the passenger side of your seat heater equipped cars will (for now) remain warm only on the bottom.

edit; You're also not the first person who's wondered why there is no heat on the passenger side seat back, I've had to explain it to quite a few people over the phone and at my counter.

You ever thought about reading the owner's manual?

Default what about the driver side?

It makes sense....however...whats the deal with the driver side...is that a different setup ... cause there both the bottom and the side work fine?
