i am getting close to the time when i need to replace my plugs. do i need to do anything special to get the plug covers off? they look different than the style i see on most cars. do they just pull off like regular wires?

I think you can just pop them off.

NOTE:
Clearly label your plug wires. You don't want to screw up the firing order.

do them one at a time...PLEASE!!!! don't try to be cool and take them apart all at once, you might mess up the order.

on another note advanced auto parts sell this "kit" that has the tune up tools for about 8 dollars. it comes with the big wrench, two extensions, a swivel head, and then 3 different size "spark plug" heads for you to do your spark plugs. i got that, and it's awesome. i think it's by mech-power. it's great if you don't have the tools!

Default Twist and pull

Twist a little and then pull, i am sure we have all had our share of the boots of the spark plug wires staying lodged in the tube or sumthin other similar.A 5/8 spark plug socket will grab the plugs fine. make sure its a spark plug socket, they have a rubber insert in the socket that holds the plug in the socket making removal and instilation in the plug tube a sinch.

If you have an I4 I don't see how you could really "mess up the order" because the length of each oem plug wire is different.

Default Onlee if replaing the cap

Onlee if yu are replacing teh distributor cap be cautious of where they go, usually i just remove the cap with the wires still attached to it and go from there, , install a new cap and then wires 1 by 1
