Default weird exhaust noise

hey

im a pretty new car owner (since this past may) and i haven't really had a problem with the car at all, which is a

1995 Honda Accord LX Sedan

anyways...recently about 2 months ago this weird noise starts to come out when i drive

it sounds like as if there is a hole in the exhaust, but not as severe, just kinda sounds like the engine is straining

however this sound ONLY occurs during 2000 rpm...at all other revs it sounds fine

and it doesn't seem to have affected the performance of the car at all...except when the passengers faces go :ugh: when they hear it

i asked my dad over the phone, who isn't a car expert but has had 30 years of driving experience, he said it is possible that it is due to the weather, since it started turning cold and all...im in Buffalo, New York btw

my guess is that its something wrong with the exhaust...

so what do you guys think...is this a common problem among 95 accords? any solution (without replacing the whole exhaust?)

yea, a rattle

but i do notice that...when it rattles it suffers a *slight* loss of power and smoothness in acceleration

it only occurs at 2000rpm...

everything else drives fine

I would guess that the rattle is your CAT or Muffler against their clamps. At every rpm your car has a unique frequency. It's probably just at 2000 rpms that the right frequency is hit to vibrate whatever is loose. I don't know why you would lose horsepower though.

auto or stick?

2000rpms might be around a shift point.

and that as the next person said, the "loss of pweor" is probably just due to shift point

any solutions? i haven't really done anything hands on with the car other than replacing the brake light h:
