I am looking for a high output alternator for my accord. Anyone have any good places to go.... I am not sure what stock is..but i will need at least a 160 amp if not larger. Thanks for the help

 

Stock alternators usually are around 80amps - 90amps with little variation. I cannot imagine why you'd need to have double that, for any reason.

Mind if I ask why you need this? If it's to run stereo equipment, just get a capacitor (or two).

Well... the reason i need this is that I am a car audio competitor. In the past I have had my alternators custom built, but the shop doesn't do Hondas. My current system consists of an amplifer that will pull up to 140 amps on its own. I have a 5 fared Capacitor...but there is no way for the stock alternator to keep up.

 

howmuch would one of these 160 amp's go for?

also..wats the output of the stock alternator?

i got quoted for a custom 175 AMP output alt. Custom bracks, custom everything. Total, including upgrading all necessary wires, and labor, and tax, was about $950.

how many watts rms are you going to be running?

oh yea, i also got a quote from stinger too. For the 170 AMP alt, it would cost $750.
