h22a swap. (90 accord ex)
Just got a few qeustions. I am want to keep the tranny that is in the car right now and just switch out the motor with a H22A. Is this possbile ? Will it bolt right up? Also how does the H22A run as a auto? Thanks for the help.

if possible, id highly suggest swapping to manual because accord trannies arent the best.
they were only made to support maybe 150 hp and the h22 has around 190...
it'll bolt right up but i dont think it will be efficient since the gearing will be way too long for it.

The direct answer to your question is Yes, all 90-02 accord and all 92 and up prelude transmissions wither they are manual or automatic will interchange with all of those year model cars 4 cyl engines. I dont know how hard its going to be for you to find an ecu. I havent searched for an obd1 h22a automatic ecu, but they never made them in the US so you would have to look for one from across the pond. If you cant find one all you have to do is use your stock ecu and a vtec controller, BUT i think that if you do that your car will still shift out at 6200 and rev limit at 6500(if you try to manually shift it). I personally dont think the stock 90-93 auto accord tranny will hold up even 1000 miles if your h22a engine is running right. Those first years(90-93) of that auto tranny are garbage trust me i owned two of them and had to put mutiple tranny is both of them(thats when i decided i would never buy another automatic honda, and i havent). If anything i would see how much more it is to get an obd1 h22a automatic tranny impretty sure it would be pretty much a direct bolt in, or see feseable it is to put a sporttronic tranny in from the 97 up prelude.(i know nothing about that)
