I have a 2003 Accord EX - 4 cylinder with 39000 miles. I bought the car brand new and after about a year and 12000 miles Honda replaced the brakes as there was an issue with the 03 Accords brakes - they sounded like metal on metal.

Fast forward to the last week when I stepped on the brake pedal gentlely the brakes made a sound similar to air escaping. This morning exiting the highway I stepped on the brakes and it sounded almost as bad as metal on metal, this happened only this morning but I am concerned as the brakes have 27000 miles on them.

Surely this car is not going to go through brakes every 27000 miles??? Does anyone else have this issue?

 

well, lets put it this way. I know the previous Gen accords have the same rotor diameter as a civic. ( as i've been told ) possibly your gen is the same.

These cars are notorious for premature brake wear. Im not certain as to what your driving habits are but, if this is your second set in less than 40k miles perhaps you may be applying the brakes to hard or frequently applying the brakes while city driving????:hsdunno:

I had the same problem with my accord so I figured i'd buy those brembo cross drilled rotors. Everyone says that those rotors suck blah blah blah but, I havent changed the pads in quiet sometime and still have some meat on them. i have about 55k+ miles on these pads/ rotors without any problems.

 

what combo did you use? Pads and rotors. My front rotors are slightly warped and i'm not paying the fuggin dealer 200 bucks to take 2 wheels off, turn the rotors and put them back on. I figured for the same amount, i can pick up a pair of brembos and have a shop mount them for 45 bucks. doesnt take a rocket scientist to take calipers off.

so, which brake pads did you go with?
