Default Heater not working

Sounds silly, but are there any troubleshooting ideas anyone can offer me before I take the car in. I'm in Chicago and it's getting cold. It's bad enough, my driver side window is stuck (1/2 inch). Any ideas for that would be greatly appreciated as well, but as far as the heater is concerned I need some help. Thanks!

Look for the heater hoses coming out of the firewall. One has a valve, #1 that's operated by a cable.

Have someone turn the temperature control back & forth while you watch for the valve to move. Newer ones need the key turned on, but maybe not your '93.

If that doesn't work, you gotta look for a disconnected or broken cable, like this...

It might also be air bubbles. Make sure you get all the air out of your cooling system.

Default Knob is broken

The funny thing is that the knob is broken, but it is possible to turn the dial. I'll look into it a bit more. Thanks.

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Once its boiling, take the pot off the stove and drop the thermostat in. The thermostat will close. Stick a meat therometer in the water. Now watch the thermometer temp go down and listen for the click. When it clicks it works. The thermo should open around 170 or 180 degrees.

Or you can just go by a 6 dollar thermostat and change it.
