Default Transmission clicking?

this may be hard to diagnose, because it's one of those things that happens only some of the time. but when i put my car into d4 (yes, auto) sometimes i hear this click, just one loud click, and it sounds like it's coming from underneath the floorboards or something. any ideas? thanks.

It depends, what car do you have? How many Miles?
It is probably the tranny. It is just making a hard transition, If there are any other symptoms along with the shifting into D4, like slipping or weird shifting while driving you may need some tranny work done. My car does the same thing after backing up and then shifting into D4

My 2003 Accord does the same thing, with a click after shifting into D4. My dealer said it was normal.

flat ground, 1992, AT, 118k miles, and the only other symptom i have is when i put it in d4 from either park or reverse (both), there's often a jolt/jerk. I asked about that awhile ago, and some people said that was the tranny mount getting old.
