Check Engine Light 2000 Accord Ex

I have a 2000 honda accord EX. Yesterday the check engine came on out of
the clear blue.

I was wondering if there is any way to pull a code myself.

People tell me that I can bring my car to autozone to have them check it, but I want to see if can do it myself.

Thank you in advance for any information that you can provide.

There is a code reader that you can buy from any auto store. It is about $70 You will plug it into your OBDII plug (someplace under your steering wheel) and hit read button. Wait for about 30 seconds and then researche the code that it will give you. If you think that it is BS, just delete the code and your light will turn off.

Inexpensive code reader to get codes yourself

Hi guys.

I couldn't stand taking my car in just to get codes! I found a a pretty good web page (www.diydiagnostics.com). I ordered one of the scanners and was able to get the trouble code, fix my car, and shut off the engine light with it....BY MYSELF!. It really worked well! Seems like a pretty good price at $54.99 plus about 4 bucks for shipping. Pretty simple tool that works great! It gives you more control over viewing/clearing codes than some others. Plus, it has a nice length cord so that you don't have to spend time with your head underneath your dashboard. It says it Works on 1996 and newer GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and some others. No computer required. It also comes with a handy code booklet to tell you what the codes mean. Thought you might find it helpful....

Oh, and there used to be an offer that if you mentioned where you heard of the item, you got a $7 discount. It wouldn't hurt to ask about it.

hope this helps.....
