Default Cigarette Lighter - No Power

Help. I'm trying to power my XM Roady 2 from the cigarette lighter. Here's what happens. The minute I plug it in the cigarette adapter sends no power. When I remove the XM plug I measure the cigarette adapter and I have power. I tried the phone charger and lighter and both do the same. I then connected a Radio Shack adapter and measured the power at the other end. Sure enough I had power. The minute I attach a load the power stops. The devices work fine in my other vehicle. What gives?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes the cigarette lighter has power (checked by meter) before and after inserting the adapters. But not while the adapter is in. I thought the adapter might be shorting the socket but I connected an adapter and checked the end of the leads and had power. The minute it detects a load either the phone, XM, or lighter itself, it cuts off power. Fuse is ok.

Are you sure the fuse inside the XM adapter isn't blown?

Default No Blown Fuse

No. The adapters all work fine in my other car. I just downloaded the service manual to try to troubleshoot this.
