Default no heat - temperature dial broken?

Hey everyone,

I've got a 93 Accord EX. Here's the deal - I've got no heat....but I think it is related to the temperature dial. I tried to turn it to warm air this past week and felt resistance, so I turned a little harder and heard a loud click and no the dial can move just fine from hot to cold and back....but the air temperature never changes. I can pull the knob off, but can't tell that anything is broken. How hard is it to get into this part of the dash? Is there anything I can do here or do I have to take it to a mechanic?

Thanks!

same thing happened to me. you need to take apart your dash and see what you broke...should be related to the heater core.
till then, there is a cable, under your hood, by the firewall that switches between heat and cold. you pull and push the heater control cable that allows you to switch between heat and cold.

Default Might be simple

Before you go and tear the dash apart, make sure to double check the heater
control knob is not broken. $7 dollar part.

Thanks I checked the heater control knob and it looks just like the fan control knob so I don't think it is broken. Can anyone give me help on tearing apart my dash?

have you tried to remove the knob and turn the metal 'pin' inside with some plyers or something? i would want to try that before ripping apart the dash

There is also a temp sensor by the block that might have to be changed.
