Default headlight bulb "retainer"?

i need what i think is called a "retainer" for the headlight bulb on my '90 accord lx. i've yet to see one in any auto parts store that fits my accord. i know i could order it from honda, but, um, no, not going to do that for $0.50 worth of plastic. anyway, anyone know where i can get one of these and if they are in fact called "retainers"?

its the piece of plastic (black) with a hole in the middle through which you stick the bulb from the backside and turn 90 degrees so it locks the bulb in place.

a genius replaced the bulb for me (and i didnt double check it) but failed to lock it in place so the bulb was hanging loose and melted this "retainer" so now i CAN'T lock it in place. I've been through about 3 bulbs since then until i decided to go a bit heavy on the electrical tape to keep the bulb in place. its actually been fine like that for over a year now, haha. but its slightly weird since i cant "aim" the light at all. i bet my car looks cockeyed from the front, lol.

thanks in advance.

Hey Meredith,

Are you talking about the little plastic electrical connector that has wires coming out of it? These have to be special ordered from Honda I believe, Honda uses their own special connectors for most things. I've never had any luck finding them in other places.

Edit: Better yet, tell me which one it is on this picture:

Oh, interesting. I doubt you'd be able to get that anywhere but Honda. Maybe some duct tape to hold the bulb in while you wait for the part to come in? Or just go to a junkyard, I'm sure any yard would be more than happy to get $1 for it.

yeah the tape has been doing a pretty good job. what a lame part. i doubt i will get this from honda. im guessing $20 for something as silly as this little thing. this might be a part to dig up at a junkyard...

well thanks for the info 98!

well... there's 4 honda dealerships (off the top of my head) here and only about 2 (1 i know of, 1 i only looked up online) junkyards. at least that are close by. I guess i will check with the dealers and if it truely is only $3 i'll go that route. maybe the junkyard would let me have it free though, haha.
