Default Washed engine compartment = Check Engine light

Hello n00b here . Check Engine light is now on after 24hrs after I washed the engine compartment. What did I do wrong?

Welsome to HAN. Take your car to Autozone and get a code. There is a FAQ section in the forums where you can check the problem with a code. Autozone will tell you the code for free.
Most probaby its some sensor that got wet and its seding an error to the ECU but we dont know which one.

Thanks for the quick response, Do you think I screwed it up or I can salvage the sensor?

You can unplug the battery and connect it back to get rid of the Check Engine Light but its always a good Idea to get it checked cause it might be something major or could be nothing plus its free.
Make sure you have the Radio code if you unplug the battery.
Get us the code and then we will tell you whats wrong. Also put your car information with it.

or you could pull the fuse for your ecu(the clock fuse) and you don't have to worry about your radio code. and then if the code comes back on you can read it yourself.

Yeah all the codes are here in the FAQ section, thanks to 98coupeV6(Chris if Iam right?). Just get the code and check it. If you dont understand the code or how to fix it then ask us.
