Default Wheel offset???

This might be a stupid question but what is the wheel offset and how does it effect the fitment.
Thanks

it's how far your wheels sticks out off the hub basically.
+42mm is as far out as you want on most Accords.

Most aftermarket rims run +42mm-->+47mm.

+35mm -->+40mm will likely stick way to far out.

Stock is somewhere around +50--->+55mm in most cases.

I have an 05 sedan and my offset is almost at the lip of the fender ,but not rubbing. I'm talking about just a hair away and my rims look great 18" Zenetti's.

I assume your stock wheels are 16". They are +55 offset. 18" wheels I have on now are +45 offset. They are perfectly flush with fenders.

Thanks guys, I asked this question cause I bought some new 17" and they are 42mm Offset. I just got them and I want to put them on but wasnt sure about the offset thing. The seller said that I need to check the fitment before buying and everything was OK untill I found out the offset.
I guess they will work.
Thanks for the help and If I could help or get help from real people on Google, I wouldnt join HAN or any other forum website.

Well you asked 'what is offset', you didn't tell us you were wondering about your rims

I was looking at some Rota Slipstreams 16x7 and going to slip on some 205/50/16 Perelli PZero-Nero. i have seen 45mm offsets on e-bay but they did not offer the bronze finish that im looking for so i checked out http://enduromotorsports.com/ROTASlipstrems.html and they only have the 40mm offset. do you think the 40mm would be less prone to rubbing or would that just stick out and look retarded? thanks

oh, 99 accord lx btw

I wouldn't run a 40mm offset on a 99 Cord....

Not meaning to bring up old stuff, but I've read before that really wide tires will make a car "dance" in and out of low spots and ruts on the highway, which my car is doing... I've got 215/40/17 tires and motegi ff5 rims (7.5" and 42mm offset)... I know my tires aren't really that wide so is the pulling left and right due to the offset?
