Default Noob intro and tranny question.

Noob here, I didn't see any intro thread section so I figure I'd start here. I currently own a '95 LX, 2.2, 5 speed. I've had it since it was new (less that 5 miles on odometer then) and its still 100% stock nad stayin that way. my tranny question is a stupid one and I may have the answer already. I did search but didn't find what I wanted. What I want is a picture/description of the drain and fill plu locations on the tranny. I replaced the half-shafts this past weekend and no fluid came out when I pulled the shafts. The last time I did this it leaked some oil and I had to top off the tranny. I was under the car and found what I thought was the drain plug, 3/8" square recess at 6 o'clock to the shaft (Passenger side). I did not see another plug like this on the side of the tranny however, at approx 9 o'clock to the shaft there is a 17mm bolt. Is that the fill plug? If it is the bastage who replaced our clutch put it in with an impact cause its siezed like nobody's business. If its not, what am I overlooking? A pic would be fantastic.

98 Thanks, thats exactly what I was looking for. The damn Chiltons didn't have it. I wasn't missing anything either, the 17mm is the fill plug. Sum biatch, to get that bastard loose I'm gonna need her up on a lift. Well, I guess I'll try again this weekend, I'll have her up on ramps changing the oil, Maybe I can get the needed leverage on a ratchet then.

Hey,

Does that diagram work for an automatic 2001 Honda Accord EX V6 as well? I'm trying to search for that as well in the forum but couldn't find any. Thanks in advance.

Good luck getting that God damn refill bolt off, I had a grand time with it.

ATF Replacement: 98-02 Accord V6

NOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.

Bring the transmission up to operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on) by driving the vehicle.
Park the vehicle on the level ground, and turn the engine off.

Remove the ATF filler bolt and drain plug, and drain the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) . NOTE: If a cooler flusher is to be used, refer to ATF Cooler Flushing.
Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer.

Refill the transmission with the recommended fluid into the filler hole (A) to the upper mark on the dipstick. Always use Honda ATF-Z1 Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) . Using a non-Honda ATF can affect shift quality. Automatic Transmission Fluid Capacity: 2.9 L (3.1 US qt., 2.6 Imp qt.) at changing 7.2 L (7.6 US qt., 6.3 Imp qt.) at overhaul
Install the ATF filler bolt (B) with a new sealing washer (C).

Well at least Honda puts drain plugs on their autos. All the ones I've dealt with in the past (Big 3) you had to remove the pan to drain and you refill thru the dipstick tube. Removing the pan really isn't that big of deal since you have to to replace the filters on em anyway, but it can get messy. Glad I got a stick on the Honda.

Just wanted to say thanks again 98. When I had her up on ramps to change oil I got the breaker bar and cheater pipe out and got the fill bolt loose. Good thing too, almost a qt low. At least its not an auto so its not AS crucial but that is still low.
