Belt squeek on start-up
I have a 97 Accord SE with 113K miles. When I start-up in the morning I hear a squeeky belt noise for the first few seconds then it goes away for the rest of the day regardless of how many starts there are after the first? Any ideas. Thanks for your advice.

I did a search for 'belt squeak' and found two threads exactly like yours. You may from time to time get smartass responses if you ask questions like this that have already been answered a lot

Sounds like one of your belts have fallen off spec or need to be replaced. I'm thinking either alternator or timing. If it were the timing belt, you'd know right away though. Your car would feel like a bucking horse.

its the power steering belt thats making that noise.
My friend had that problem in his older maxima. Eventually the belt snapped and he lost control of his steering wheel.
He drove into a 24hour laundromat place and stopped at a dryer .lol

Your belts squeak when its not on tight enough, one of your belts must be loose. Loose belts can snap easily. simply push down on each belt and find the one that gives the most slack, then find the adjusting bolt and tighten it with a wrench.

fireguy is right, there is a loose belt, usually the ones that make noises are surpentine or power steering, it really is no big deal, just tighten them a bit or apply belt dressing if that doesnt work. it will help stop squeaks.
