anyone know what the OEM wattage is? I'm looking to get a white beam on foglights, what wattage should I shoot for?

 

i am pretty sure they always used 55 watt H3 bulbs... I KNOW the 5th and 6th gen fog lights use that bulb... not totally sure about the other models... but its the bulb type you look for, not just the wattage... I wouldnt put a higher wattage bulb in there anyway... they tend to melt/discolor the reflector/housing and they blind people.

 

I found a set on ebay with I think 85 watt bulbs for a hyper white output. I've never bought car parts over ebay but I've always looked at them. Is this generally a bad call? or good call? or is it mixed?

 

are they H3 bulbs?? I personally dont like the idea of raising the wattage... especially in such a small light... its amazing how much of a temperature difference there is between a 55 watt halogen bulb and an 85 watt halogen bulb. If you can find 55 watt bulbs, go for that... I'd hate to see you ruin a set of expensive factory fogs.

 

on my 4th gen they are 50 watt h3's

 

so whats the difference between fogs and driving lamps? as far as additional lighting is concerned? Are driving lamps just for tools?
