J30A1 5/6 Speed Tranny?
Doe's anyone know what manual tranny would fit on a 98-99 Accord V6 engine? (J30A1)
I'm contemplating a (top secret, shhhhhhh!!!) engine/tranny swap and have the crazy idea that the J30 V6 would be a good candidate, only it would have to be a manual transmission. I know that Accord V6's didn't come with a manual tranny until '03, but didn't the earlier Acura 3.2TL S-Type come with a manual? Would a J32A2 tranny work on my engine, or did the J32A1 have a manual as well?

We go over this once a week...
the CL-S and J30A4 6-speeds both work, but require a lot of fabrication.
Why would you put the J30A1 in there anyway The J32A2 can be had for not much more, is almost the exact same size on the outside, makes 60 more horses stock, and doesn't require the fabrication that the J30A1 will. Plus, compared to the J32 or J30A4, the J30A1 is a piece of shit technologically.
I highly doubt either engine will fit in a 4th gen Accord.

The reason I'm considering this swap is because I already have the engine, automatic, and ECU which were all free, all I would need to buy would be the harness and axels. (And ECU if I do go MT)
Also, what year did the J32A2 become available with the 6 speed?

When you get done fabricating the mount for the 6MT you might as well have sold the J30A1 and the tranny on ebay and bought a J32A2 in the first place...from what I've read it's a royal pain in the ass. That's cool that it fits though. Did you check height too?
The 03-04 CL Type-S are 6MT.

I think I've decided, buy a 6 speed and mount it to my J30A1 for now, just to get the swap done, than eventually down the road swap the J30 for a J32. Once my wallet allows me to...
I'm trying to build a true show car, which I have already done A TON of body work on and want something other than the H22 that everyone does. (No disrespect to the H22 fans.)
The J series engines are so damn pretty and can be painted and polished to really stand out...

As far as I know all the tranny mounts have to be fabricated and there's some problem mounting the tranny directly to the engine...but I can't remember exactly what. All I remember is that it's a royal pain in the ass.
