Default junk yard parts- why so expensive?

i called a local junkyard today, looking for a replacement interior drivers door handle, and they wanted $80 for one used. I am wondering the actual retail price of this from honda. That to me seems kind of outrageous.

It really depends on the specific yard. I have had a yard qoute me $350 for a well-used 92(?) eclipse turbo, just the turbo, which probably is list price on it. The problem with honda parts is the yards know everyone wants them, and they can get whatever they want for them. I would suggest finding a new yard.

if you check out car-parts.com they search all around the nation to find the parts for you. Sometimes you can find some good deals.

Because they know the list prices and knock off about $5-20 figuring that you'll buy it instead of buying a new part for more $$$.

Ever been to a Pick-N-Pull? What a joke, you're better getting new OEM parts than buying crap from them....buncha shysty bastards.

Just call around and be patient, and if they want too much, ask them if they know any other place that carries Honda parts a lil cheaper. That's how I've found the best deals...just be patient and you'll find a good deal.

BTW write the place and price down, because I always forget and end up calling places a couple of times, just to get the answer,
"No man, we still don't have any..."or my personal favorite, "Damn, those things are popular, I just had another guy call me and ask the same exact thing..."

you want one, i could prolly get it for you real cheap cause the one around here has alot of them... as long as you have the grey interior that is... this is for a 5th gen right? 94-95? Let me know if you need it and the specs and I'll get back to you wether i can get it or not. For 10 bucks I'll sell it to you

The problem with that is that it takes a LOT of damage (ie, T-boned by a semi truck) to send such a new car to the boneyard. Expect to get nothing useable out of such a new car.
