It's basically just a jumper with a resistor on it that really doesn't do crap except make you think you are going faster

these performance modules are just a resistor. you can buy one at radioshack for 3 bucks. it changes the voltage in a sensor. the most popoular place to use this mod is in the AIT. it may give you 2-3 hp maybe. not worth spending more than 3 bucks for it though.

a performance ecu is the way to go or a microtuner. i dont know if anyone is making it for the honda.

Technicaly, they do add couple of ponies but yeah not worth more than 3 bucks. It basically changes your feul settings so that the car burns more fuel to give you more power. I posted a thread about it last month and got the same answers.

Default Depends on the engine

The Hondata reflash and KPRO programmable ECU upgrades for the K20-K24 (RSX/TSX) engines are well regarded, and add in the neighborhood of 25HP depending on the program used. There are other tuning advantages as well. However they aren't $30 ($600-$1000 range)

So what's an answer? I've got a pretty much stock VTEC in my 98 Accord. I'm a newbie, and I see the adds for the colorful intake/air filter kits and the $70 thingy that adds up to 35hp. I've also heard about these ECU (chips?) mods.
What kinda $$ are we really talkin' about and what's the associated hp increase?!
