Default Remote starter problems after ignition recall repair

I just picked up my car from a local dealer, 6th gen, which had the ignition recall on it. I have an after market alarm with remote start and now that I go to start it with the remote, it won't start!! it'll just crank for alittle bit and then not start. It was working perfectly this morning before I dropped it off. I know they disconnect your alarm when doing the repair but the alarm is connected because they alaram is working, except the remote start. Anyone else have this problem? any ideas, suggestions? I'm gonna call them up tomorrow and tell them about it, and they better fix it or else i'll have it fixed and then bill them.

you expect a dealer to repair aftermarket items you added to the car?

Well hellz yeah in this case, because the damn thing worked perfectly the morning I dropped it off and when I picked it up, it wasn't working. it's like dropping your car off with an aftermarket radio and when you pick up the car it's not working, well what would you do, obviously have the damn dealer fix it! Well I think I know what the problem is, because a friend of mine installs them so if I get charged to have it rewired or something, you can bet I'm billing Honda of America for the invoice. Actually I'm about to call them up right now and find out the whole legal crap...

Lets see what we have here: a car that has an aftermarket item that worked flawlessly prior to having the recall service performed. This recall has to be done so that at 75mph your car doesn't just die on you, causing an accident and/or death. There is no choice for the owner because HONDA SCREWED UP! In addition the dealer wants to enrich himself by either not reconnecting the alarm or charging to reconnect it. That is gall!

i would start praying that they dont do more damage when you take it in...and i am willing to be they also have a disclaimer in their terms of service they are not responsible for aftermarket items installed in your car. I sure as hell would NOT expect a honda dealer to fix a clifford alarm, or pioneer head unit.

So if you had aftermarket seat covers or a belt belt pad and there was a recall on the seats and or seat belt you would not expect the dealer to put those items back after fixing their recalled parts? I know this is an over board example, but if a wire was connected and they disconnect it, I think they should reconnect it (Reassemple in reverse order of Disassemple). A very simple concept really.

if it was as simple as a wire i would think that most people would have the brains to do that themselves...but i guess thats beyond many drivers...

Because he stated that the car is crankingbut never starts it could easliy be a wire. And most drivers would not know where this wire went unless they had the manual for the alarm or removed it themselve. The dealer, most likely, removed and discided to, or forgot to reconnect it. But it should be reconnected.

Usually alarms with remote starting capability cost $500-600 installed. Why should a car owner have to reconnect his own alarm or know anything about the wiring if he left the original installation to others from the outset? Not every owner wants to be a shade-tree mechanic with the electrical innards of their Honda.
