Default People who have systems in their car....very quick question.

Hi. I have a really quick question for those who have systems in their 98 Accord sedans. I am not an Accord owner, so I am not that familiar with the car. But I am planning to install a system in one. I want to know how you guys get the power line into the cabin. If I am standing in front of the car holding the hood up, which gromet do you guys use? I see one on the top right. Is that the one you guys use? And also, where in the trunk do you guys ground your amps?

I know this is more suited for the Audio forum...but I figure there is a better chance for an Accord forum to have a system than an Audio forum to have an Accord.

Thanks.

On the passenger side, down low there is a grommet that comes into the passenger side footwell. This grommet is also used by another wire pack, so its a tight fit, but you can do it. I have a 2 guage wire through mine. From here you can run it down under the center console to where ever you want. I'm running 3 amps in mine and you can't see a single one of them or a single wire.

Thanks. Just what I needed to know.

All my amps are grounded to the the rear bolt on my passenger side front seat via a grounding block in my trunk. If you are sitting in the back seat its the left rear bolt of the passenger seat (the one next to the the center console). This works well for me. Otherwise just go at the trunk compartment with a multimeter. Good Luck.

Ok, after 30 minutes of trying...how the heck did you get to that gromet? It was very hard to reach. What did you do exactly to get the wire in? I am only putting in an 8 gauge. I cant imagine a 2 gauge in there :eek3:

After the power wire, I should be good to go.

The grommet is hard to reach, ill give you that. Just use a coat hanger, make a small loop, thread it through from the inside to the out, put the wire through the loop, and pull it in from the inside of the car as far as you can, from there, lie on the passenger side floor, and go at the grommet with a screw driver (a right angle driver is the best) to pull in the wire. This is how i did it. Its really a two man job, so just grab a buddy with a flashlight. Otherwise it will just take longer... good luck, if you have any more questions, just ask.

Sweet. I didnt think of a coat hanger. I was already having trouble making a hole in the thing with a screwdriver. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks.

I gave up on the passenger side. I used the one on the driver side and did it in about 2 minutes.
