Default Generations of a car?

Hi everybody, it may sounds a little stupid but Iam new to Cars and Mods.
Can anyone please explain what are the "Genereations" of a car and how they are determined. for example, i have an 03 Accord EX-V6, what generation will it be.
I read all these forums and I just dont understand what it is.
Thanks alot for helping.

Generation means which model (NOT LX, DX, EX) or revision of the accord it is... Not sure when the original accord came out (GEN 1) probably in the late 1980's... The new ones are now 7th Generation. A 2002 Accord was 6th Generation.. 2003-2005 are 7th Gen.... Basically, it refers more to body styling than anything else....

Hope this helped!

Honda Accord (1st generation) was introduced in 1976... as a hatchback.
Sedan came out in 1979 (as still a 1st gen)

2nd gen - 1982-1985.

3rd gen - 1986-1989 (Accord coupe was introduced in 1988)

4th gen - 1990-1993 (first year for the wagon - 1990)

5th gen - 1994-1997 (last year for the wagon -1997)

6th gen - 1998-2002

7th gen - 2003-

Everything is correct except the wagon came out in 1991 and the Accord hatch was dropped after the 3rd generation
