Default Looking at getting a TSX or Accord V6

Hello everyone, I am currently comparing the 2005 Honda Accord EX V6 and the 2005 Acura TSX and am looking for opinions from owners or anyone who knows anything about them. I test drove the TSX last night and was very impressed; however, the Accord comes with a larger engine and almost similar features.

Does anyone have an opinion on these two vehicles or can anyone share some common problems that may exist with either car? Thanks

I just bought a 05 accord and that car is really nice(4 cyl) . The 6cyl is a better one of course . I also was looking at the acura's and there are not much differences. I think it may be just the pricing. I also looked into the parts for later when the waranty expires. the acura is very pricy on parts compaired to the accord. I found that there is not much difference in the ammenities either. They are almost the same. It also depends if your going to customize it in anyway. The prices for aftermarket parts for the acura are very different campared to the accord. good luck.....

If you want a Coupe, go with accord since they dont make the TLs in coupe. If sedans, they are different cause you get more space in Accord than TL.
If you have a family go with the Accord. If single go with the TL and you will get some luck with it.
I have an 03 EX-V6 coupe and its sweet. Perfect combition of sports and luxury.

I have a 04 v6 accord coupe, im very satisfied w/ it and the accord v6 has more power than the tsx but the accesory of the tsx is soo much better than the accord cuz it has HID projectors and the cabin is a little better than the accord but then again u could do a projector retrofit on the accord and slap a hid on it.

i'd get the TSX...it's the real accord anyway. looks alot better than the USDM accord (inspire). it's lacking in power, but with a 6speed and a supercharger u should be fine. get the TSX...do it...do it

The looks of the TSX over the Accord sedan is enough for me to cough up a bit more money.

I was in the same predicament at the beginning of this year. I wanted a manual tranny, navi, and it had to be a gas saver car so those where my deciding factors.

The Accord V6 can get really good gas mileage while cruising on the freeway, I've used my father sedan V6 to go to San Francisco from my town and i go there and back and with the a/c I will just barely reach half a tank. More power is a good plus, but a couple of things that annoyed is the seats aren't as comfortable as TSX. Plus, when I test drove a manual coupe v6, the clutch seemed to be too lightweight for me and that really annoyed me, in fact that's what stirred me away from the accord coupe. The TSX's clutch is a bit more firmer. Remember the TSX requires the use of premium versus accord's regular. TSX has horrible off the line power, but while cruising it's fairly quick and sometimes before I even know it, I'm going 80+, and didn't even realize it. Also, Accord sedan is more roomier than the TSX sedan, you can barely fit people in the TSX, but I have fit 6.0' + people in the back.

Also as some said, accords can be had for 1000 below invoice at the time I was looking at the beginning of this year. Acura's are greedy and will barely cover $500 above invoice. If you looking for a rare TSX like mine (6MT + Navi), and the dealer knows it, be ready to cough up more.

My TSX:

Hi justin

I found myself in the same situation close to a year ago. Towards the end of last year I was looking for a car for myself and one for my mother. I eventually narrowed the search to a TSX/Accord V6 coupe for myself and a TL/Accord sedan for mom. I drove all models several times over a course of several months. I eventually decided to purchase an Accord six speed coupe and an Accord Hybrid.

Why? First off, I truly enjoy the TSX. I find it to be a tremendous car with absolutely stellar handling characteristics. The interior is very nice and the car is extremely well appointed. I was less impressed with the TL. Having compared it to a regular Accord I could not justify the extra expense, even if the Hybrid was only slightly less expensive. The car I eventually purchased for myself was an 05' six speed coupe and have been very pleased with it. It's somewhat larger than the TSX and both are nearly identical in price. The deciding factor for me was the torque the six cylinder offered over the four of the TSX. While test driving the TSX I found myself continually wishing for another forty horsepower. The six speed Accord has an upgraded suspension and is respectable handler as well.

The hybrid I purchased for mom has been tremendous. The Accord sedan is also larger than the TSX and the handling isn't as crisp, but she enjoys it very much. I find it to be a very comfortable car with excellent interior accomodations. Interestingly enough the hybrids, like the TSX, is assembled in Japan. Personally I think the quality is slightly better in a Japanese assembled vehicle.

In short, I don't think you can go wrong with either vehicle. The Accord is more practicle, and in sedan form isn't as sporting, but is still an enjoyable car to drive. Another consideration you may have is servicing. I found it interesting that I was quoted nearly 40% less for an oil change for the both Accords than the TL, heavily based on a similar platform.

I like your past Corvettes. I've owned a few myself. A gen 4 LT-1, and a couple ZR-1's.

Hope this helps.

i was thinking about getting a TSX, or an RSX-S or an S2000...3 totally different cars, that's what made the decision so hard...so i decided to wait for the 06 EVO IX MR to come out...it's got the 4 doors of the TSX, faster and handles better than an S2000...problem solved
