another overheating accord.
ok here is the story i have 98 accord with 54K on it and it's a 4cyl auto. this car was overheating about a month ago when it was just parked when driving the temp stayd noraml.i noticed my fans coming on too late. so i took it to the shop and they said it was the thermostat and they changed it with i guess one they got from napa (i don't know if it matters). so today i was running my car in my grage cuz i was on the phone and i noticed the two more lines that arrow was about to hit the (H) so i kept running the car but my fans were not comming on, so i turned on my heater full blast.it moved it 2 lines down but still my fans were not comming on. so i decided to turn the AC this way both fans came on when the compressor came on and i shut off the ac after 5 seconds and i noticed that my fans stayed on. now i don't know what the helll is wrong. (did i trigger the fans to come on by turning on the AC?). can i somone tell me what to do please cuz i'm about the sell this car.
There's a sensor on the thermostat housing with a 2-wire plug. That's the fan switch. Unplug it & use a paperclip to jumper the 2 wires together. Key on, that should make the fans run. If this works, then the fan switch is probably bad, get a new one. If you're prepared to swap quickly it probably won't dump too much coolant out of the hole.
If jumpering that plug sometimes works & sometimes doesn't, then we'll talk about checking the fan relay, or looking for flaky wiring connections.
If the temperature stays good while you're driving, then the thermostat is OK.

i took it to the shop again and he changed the fan witch but he wasn't pointing at the engine he was pointing on the fan when explaining me about what he had changed. is there a switch behined the fans??????on the round part??? he charged me 100 bux i wana makesure he wasn't talkin crap to me.
The fan switch is mounted on the engine in the coolant flow. I don't recall on Honda's where they put it, either on the thermostat housing or somewhere on a housing bolted to the head. There is no switch on the fans themselves, or the radiator.

Anyway...did this solve the problem?
