Why @ the 8,200 mile mark though and not 5k?

Well the light just comes on 7500 miles after the last reset. So yours may have been reset early, etc. At least that's the way it is on the 6th gens. Personally I would just ignore the light, reset it when it comes on, and just make sure you are keeping up with the scheduled maint. based on your odometer readings.

Thanks. The only thing I can think of is when I took the car in for a noise they coulndn't identify, maybe they set it off and then reset it? I bought it with 9 miles on it and now with 8,200, it went off for the first time. I reset it and it went off. If you can reset it, does that mean their is NO major issue? I do all the work myself.

The maint light comes on after counting mileage. It won't come on for any other reason other than a short in the circuit in which case you woulndt be able to shut the light off by resetting the counter. It doesnt monitor anything, its just a mileage counter.

Yep, no issues...just a mileage counter like said above. Your owners manual has instructions how to reset it.

Reading your owners manual is a good idea, under ANY circumstance.
