fuse blowin

Default fuse blowin

for some reason,one of my fuses under the dash keep blowing every time i turn the ignition key to crank it over.its the fuse for the guages,clock,and lights on the cluster.and whats weird about it is i lose vtec when it blows.i stuck a higher amp fuse and i drove for about a day then blew it again.does anyone know what might cause this?

Sounds like a bare wire is making contact against metal. Good luck trying to find it though.

Definately a short circuit. Get a wiring diagram for your car. That is pretty much the only way you are going to find it without completely tearing your car apart. Do not put a higher amp fuse in it to fix the problem. That will cause more problems as you start to blow components rather than fuses.

You can get a diagram to locate the wires, but ... the break could be anywhere in the line. He'll have to tear his car apart unless he gets really really lucky.

A wiring diagram is better than no wiring diagram. At least he can find what circuits use that fuse and isolate the short to a particular wire. Then instead of trying to find the broken area, just install your own wire, completely bypassing the entire shorted wire, to replace it. That is possible alot of the time.
