speedo works intermittenly
91 accord, stock engine, 2.2l i think, 5 speed manual, the speedo bounces around sometimes, and even makes the cruisecontrol not work sometimes, sounds to me like a vehicle speed sensor but not sure if a car this old has one, would it still have the gear and cable set up? thanks for the help
hi look at HONDA90NYC i answered your ? in that post. its on today's posts page... u do have a vehicle speed sensor in your car.. i hope that that is the problem. mine is leaning towards the cluster.. easy to replace the vss once u find it. cruise control wont work with the disrupted speed signal being sent to the ecu. power steering may be a little funky too when the sensor is acting up..idle maybe off. they are all on the same loop with the alternator.. some people get the flashing D4 light or check engine light i have neither happening just bouncing tach and speedo. its really embarrassing esp if u have other people in the car.. my cluster is possessed by demons.. good luck..
91 accords have electronic speed sensors, and that is your problem, after a couple hundred miles your speedo will not work at all. i had that problem on my car. changed the speed sensor and now it works fine. supposedly there are 2 in the transmission for an automatic, not sure about a 5 speed
