Default 98 Accord transmission prob?

My engine light has been on for a couple of years but the driving has been all good until last week when I can feel my transmission fighting to rev up. If I do a rolling stop and go, my RPM goes sky high to 4000 and I haven't top 10 mph yet! Almost every time the car switches gears, I feel the car lurch forward like it is struggling. What's going? Feels like my car is stalling when I try to accelerate too fast.

I got suckered into a diagnostic test by Kwik Kar and they told me I have 4 error codes that is causing the computer to tell the transmission to fault so I can bring it in for fixing (catalytic converter he says). Is this BS? I know jack about cars. Please help.

Unless you have a code reader to verify what codes are being thrown out your better off getting a second opinion.

On your dash console right before you flip the ignition switch to start the car do you see the D4 light flickering?

I've heard thats an indication also if your tranny is about to kick the bucket.

i think u should take it to the honda dealer and have them look at it instead of a regular shop. at least just to get diagnostic by honda. also the problem maybe got worse because u waited so long. usually the O2 sensors die first then if u dont change the O2 the catalytic converter follow next. whatever u do i aggree with the above, u should definetly get a second or third opinion. 186k sweet another reason to buy a honda.

Finally have took my car to my dad's friends who only work on imports. Should have a clue what is happening by Monday . Will keep you guys updated. He did a prelim engine light check and he said a R2 valve (or something. I forgot) is broken or busted and that's what causing the light to be on.
