if you are trying to find out if your car is a jap car or an us built car..it has something to do with your serial number...look at it and see what it starts with...if it starts with a J then its a jap car... if it starts wit numbers its us car....not really that sure tho

My USA-built '98 Accord VIN started with 1HG.

I think the USA-built cars destined to stay in USA have non-folding side mirrors. They use the folding mirrors to pack them tighter together on a ship.

Only the 98s have non folding mirrors starting with the 99 they changed to folding mirrors. I have an 01 Japan model all the mirrors are the same as the US ones.

OLD THREAD?

the side mirrors depend on what side the steering wheel is on. not necessary where the car was made.

I love it when newbs resurrect old threads :chuckles:. I looked at about 15 6th gen Accords when I was shopping around. Every one, according to carfax, was built in the USA. I'm sure there are those built in Japan but I never came across one. My '99 has folding mirrors BTW.
