Default holding up stock shift boot with custom knob

who has a good idea how to hold the stock boot up against a custom knob without the stock boot clip on it

slip the rubber cushion from the inside of a 5/8 spark plug socket over the shift arm at the base of the new knob. slide the boot clip up on the rubber-should be a snug fit works great.

depending on the shift knob, some companies make a washer like thing and another little piece to hold up the boot. i know momo and skunk2 have something like that.
