Default neon light

im tryna reroute the power from the neon light sticks (im talking about the small 6 inches stick for under dash) directly through the headlight switch instead of the cigarette lighter. can anybody offer any help on this??

you will need a relay because if you connect the 12v line to it directly you might blow something. The switch doesnt provide enough juice to power up them sticks.

The relay will allow you to use the switch as a turn on lead and just use a direct 12v line from your battery to the relay.
Once you turn the switch on the relay will pass that 12v power right through.

i'm not an EE in cars, but i was thinking about maybe splicing the wires from your headlights?

Don't take my words for it since I never installed neon lights before.

might not be a good idea. you'll want to turn those off when you drive at night because no doubt ... it'll get annoying.

with that being said.
cut the cigarette adapeter off of the neon light
strip some of the plastic casing off of the wire
ground the solid colored wire to the body of the car
run the other wire to an inline fuse (something you can buy @ radioshack)
from the fuse, run the wire to an inline switch (something you can buy @ radioshack)
mount the switch
finally, run the wire from the switch to a constant power source in your fusebox
